There are many wineries around Queenstown, however currently the two biggest are Gibbston Valley Winery and Chard Farm. Both situated near the old Kawarau Bridge where AJ Hackett Bungy operate their original jump site.

Gibbstown Valley is New Zealand's leading wine tourism experience , featuring an award winning winery, picturesque vineyard restaurant and wine cave complex.

Situated just 20 minutes from Queenstown (1 km past the A.J. Hackett Bungy Bridge) they are the most visited winery in New Zealand (they welcome more than 150,000 visitors each year).  Since the release of their first wine in 1987, Gibbston Valley Wines have won more than 130 awards, nationally and internationally for their quality boutique wines.

Cave Tours allow visitors to experience the feeling of travelling Inside the wine caveunderground 76 meters into the Central Otago hillside within New Zealand's largest and most innovative wine cave. The rocky schist walls within the cave are lined with barrels of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay still reaching their prime. With a constant humidity and temperature around 14 ° degrees Celsius the cave provides a perfect haven for maturating these wines as well as providing a unique atmosphere for wine tasting.

Gibbston Valley Winery is one of the wineries on the Queenstown Wine Trail.

Experienced guides take visitors on a 30 minute tour of the vineyard and winery, culminating with a tasting in the caves.

This is an interactive tour with discussion on history, geography, wine-making and wine appreciation.
Gibbston Valley Wines RestaurantGibbston Valley Wines is also well known as one of the finest lunch restaurants in Queenstown. Their restaurant has an extensive range of menus featuring the best local produce including venison, lamb and salmon, and all their wines are available by the bottle or the glass at winery prices!

Eat outdoors in their attractive courtyard or dine indoors if the weather gods are not smiling. Their internationally acclaimed wines are also available for tasting while browsing through our gift-shop which features many exclusive items.

The Gibbston Valley Cheese Company (next door to the winery) is unique in NZ, being the only operation where cheese and wine are made side-by-side.

All cheese is made by hand using traditional techniques.  View the cheese-making and sample the award winning cheeses, they are supurb.
